FIRST AID MANAGEMENT OF ANAPHYLAXIS

 

The course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis is designed to develop skills and knowledge to assist a casualty suffering a severe allergic reaction until the arrival of medical assistance

 

Participants will gain an understanding and appropriate skills for the administration of a controlled dose injecting device (Epi-pen) to assist a casualty suffering a severe allergic reaction

 

 

Course Content

 

Assessment of the situation and recognition of anaphylaxis

Provision of appropriate first aid treatment for an anaphylactic reaction

Comfort and reassurance to casualty

Access and assessment of resources and equipment

Administration of an Epi-pen and appropriate first aid

Monitoring and supporting the casualty

Develop skills in recognition, prevention, and risk minimisation

Obtaining emergency services or medical assistance

Incident communication and documentation
