ADVANCED CARING FOR BABIES AND INFANTS

 

The Advanced Caring for Babies and Infants course is a First Aid Training program which prepares childcare professionals to act efficiently and confidently in any emergency situation involving infants and children

 

This course focuses on key knowledge, skills and competencies for managing an infant/child emergency in a childcare environment

 

This course  is compliant with the Department of Community Services (DOCS) guidelines for child care centres

 

Course Content

summoning help - calling 000

unconsciousness & resuscitation

choking management

poisoning

bleeding

shock

spinal injuries

head injuries

fractures/dislocations

burns and scalds

bites and stings

fits and seizures

emergency asthma management

anaphylaxis, allergies and epi-pen use

topics of interest

examination phase

 

Duration

 

1 day program

 

Assessment

 

Participants are subject to competency based assessment. Participants must demonstrate competence in knowledge, skills and attitude related to course requirements

 

Award

 

A Statement of Attainment will be issued on successful completion of this course and is current for 3 years
